Gardening Tips

We all can appreciate the beauty of a flower, but we all love a fragrant bloom or plant. The scent of a blossom or plant is a natural method to improve mood and result in relaxation.

So why not plan your garden, or even a patio pot or hanging basket to include scented plants that we can appreciate while we enjoy our long awaited Spring and Summer outdoors.

A simple herb pot can provide fragrance as well as giving us delicious ingredients for culinary use as well as soothing natural teas. The leaves can be cut and dried as the plants grow to provide us with herbs for the winter, and you know that they have not been exposed to pesticides or other chemicals beyond your control. The flavor of your own home grown herbs is beyond compare, much like that sun kissed, ripe tomato you pick off your own plant. We grow over 60 varieties of herbs and use organic, non GMO seed whenever it is available, so you can create your own herb pot or garden. There are also preplanted pots available for an instant garden. Lemon scented mosquito repellant plants and planters are also a great patio addition in our summer.

Here is list of fragrant plants that we grow and that do well in our climate. They are grouped according to class, being annual, perennial or herb. The perennial list does not contain scented shrubs or trees such as Lilac, Mayday, Honeysuckle, Mockorange, Roses, Butterfly Bush or flowering fruit trees and fruit bushes to name just a few. Tropical plants such as Gardenia and Jasmine are also great on the patio. There are also numerous seed varieties we carry in packets that are an economical way of adding fragrance to the garden.
